Before Everything Changed
Here is our true story — how The Purple Ear was born.
“We didn’t start The Purple Ear to give advice. We started it because, once in life, advice wasn’t enough.”
Life was moving beautifully. We were enjoying each day to its fullest. We had dreams, ambitions, vision, compassion, and a quiet confidence that everything ahead would fall into place.
At that time, life felt simple, hopeful, and full of promise. We did not know how suddenly everything could change.
The Beginning
My partner, Nandini, and I met on 2nd November 2022 — the day of our Orientation Program for the Italian Studies Bachelor’s Degree at the North Campus, University of Delhi.
Like most young people, we started with casual conversations, sharing thoughts, laughing with friends, and spending hours sitting together on campus.
We laughed at professors’ teaching styles, talked about dreams, and listened to each other’s thoughts for hours — without realizing how powerful listening would later become.
When Life Changed
Towards the end of July and the beginning of August 2025, Nandini started experiencing severe headaches — not ordinary pain, but something deeper, heavier, frightening.
I had migraine episodes myself, so I believed it was temporary. Maybe stress. Maybe tension. Maybe nothing serious.
Medicines brought short relief, but the pain returned. What seemed normal slowly turned terrifying.
It was meningitis.
The 90 Days
One day, she sent me a picture from the emergency room. I was terrified. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Hospital admission. ICU. Endless injections. She stayed in the hospital for almost 90 days.
Five surgeries — three of them neurosurgeries. Multiple ICU admissions. Constant pain.
Festivals passed without celebration. Nights passed without sleep. Days passed with fear and uncertainty.
When Advice Failed
I reached out to friends, hoping someone would understand. But all I received were logical solutions and advice.
Nothing could change the situation. Every day felt the same — helpless, heavy, painful.
I cried daily. I prayed daily. I lived with one question repeating in my mind: Will this be the end?
During this time, my mother became my listener. She didn’t try to fix anything. She simply listened — and that made all the difference.
The Lesson
That phase taught me something life-changing.
In some situations, advice does not help. Solutions do not help. Therapy does not always help.
What people truly need sometimes is not answers — but the freedom to express fear without judgment.

Why We Exist
The Purple Ear was born on 6th November 2025.
It was created as a safe space for people who don’t want advice, don’t want opinions, and don’t want to be fixed.
We are here for people who just want to speak — and feel understood.
